SPOTLIGHT: RICK DANCER
Republican Candidate for Secretary of State
Rick Dancer, long-time reporter and news anchor for KEZI-TV in Eugene, recently announced he would be leaving his post as anchor and would enter the race for Oregon’s Secretary of State.
Over the years, Rick interviewed thousands of Oregonians, and time and time again they expressed to him one common concern: a feeling of disconnect with the government. After doing a television special on voter apathy, Rick began to seriously consider running for public office to help turn apathy into awareness and excitement.
Rick is running for Secretary of State to help bridge the gap between government and the people of Oregon. He views this position as a way to help build trust among people and help restore confidence in fairness and openness in government.
A native Oregonian, Rick graduated from Hillsboro High School and Pacific University in Forest Grove. Rick lives in the country east of Springfield with his wife of 25 years, Kathy, his two boys, 20 year-old Jake and 18 year-old Jess, and their pet goats. As a family, the Dancers enjoy skiing, cycling, and traveling.
